"Chasing the Rush"
Days after the events of Zero Hour, the Flash (Wally West) notices a series of sonic booms moving along the Earth's surface. He moves to investigate and finds Alan Penn, running out of control and unable to stop himself. Flash attempts to bleed his speed away but is unable to do so. Alan has been running for days and is exhausted, however if he stops the time control power will eat him alive. With the help of Max Mercury and Impulse, the speedsters are able to direct Alan's power forward in time, where a desperate plan is enacted to save the young man's life.

"Rush to the Future"
As Alan runs through time the Flashes of the future attempt to slow his movement before he reaches the end of time and is destroyed. Cameos include Sela Allen (23rd Century), Jace Allen (28th Century), and the Tornado Twins (30th Century). Alan finally comes to a halt in the 85th century, where John Fox, Flash of the Justice Legion, is able to send him back in time using the power of Solaris, the tamed Tyrant Sun.

"For A Change of Atmosphere"
Alan Penn has been returned to the 21st century in the year 2010 (just after the events of Blackest Night). Living in the states now, back in Calvin City, CT. Inspired by the Flashes of various times and the legacy of the Golden Age Atom, Alan has decided to become a costumed crimefighter under the name "Rush." Wally West, the Flash, has himself returned from a long period outside of his normal time and space (having dwelt in the Speed Force with his wife and children for some time), and helps Rush with the difficulty of adjusting. While waiting to see if he can obtain a position teaching at Calvin City College, Rush-- in his civilian identity as Alan Penn-- takes a job as a bike messenger.
When he puts the bike down and runs his messages across (and over) the buildings and streets of the city, Rush takes to his new life immediately, but he and Wally are forced to save the city when an experiment at nearby Ivy University begins to bring super-heated air from the stratosphere down to the surface, plunging both cities into a deadly heat wave. After using two super-speed created vortexes to return the hot air to its proper place, Alan and Wally get word that Alan's gotten the teaching job-- but he enjoys his messenger job so much, he decides to keep them both.
