All-Flash Quarterly #37

Alan Penn is in his office- one of his students approaches him, expressing concerns over students getting drawn into a weird church group. She was asked to join and went to a meeting but found it creepy. Alan promises to look into it.

Meanwhile Chet Edwards is part of a NASA speaking tour, and today he is scheduled to talk at Calvin College. Chet meets Alan at a faculty mixer. Later that evening in his hotel room, Chet mentally receives an electronic message from a mysterious contact—presumably from the organization that gave Chet his bionic body—concerning disappearances in the area and possible occult connections.

That night, while on patrol, Rush finds evidence of a cult ritual slaying and the Cybernaut examining the scene. Mistaking his intentions, Rush attacks the Cybernaut, and they spar briefly before determining they are on the same side.

Cybernaut's super-senses allow them to detect minute evidence that lead them to believe former students of Calvin College may be involved. They are attacked by Blood Cultists who are faster and stronger than normal human beings. They are on a doctored version of the new drug "hunny", a more intense version that grants metahuman abilities to all users but destroys their bodies in short order.

The cultists are easily dispatched, and then Rush and Cybernaut watch in horror as the unconscious cultists waste into dust before their eyes. They realize there must be something very wrong with the Church of Blood...

They redouble their efforts and their investigation leads them to the conclusion that the villainous Brother Blood-- who has previously menaced the Teen Titans and led prior versions of the cult-- has set up shop, and this cult must be behind the disappearances. They locate and infiltrate the cult's base and interrupt a ritual to summon the demon Trigon, a ritual which is warping time and space. This warping of the time at this nexus point causes a few people who have traveled in time-- like Booster Gold, Jay Garrick and  John Fox-- to be drawn there. Through their combined efforts, Rush, the Golden Age Flash, and future Flash John Fox are able to use their combined powers to create "counter warps" and stave off much of the warping effect.

Simultaneously, Booster and Cybernaut defeat Brother Blood and the amped up Cultists. Brother Blood flees. When the portal finally closes, the time displaced heroes return to their proper eras. The police round up the remaining cultists, Rush and Cybernaut part ways… only to meet again at the speaking gig.

Later, after another cryptic message, Cybernaut ponders the possibility that his mysterious superiors may have been involved the cult in the first place…
